I like the overall feel of the game, graphics and music are nice :). I played for about half an hour and would like to give some feedback:
- It is overwhelming at the start. I am not talking about a tutorial because mechanics are simple and fun but the fact that everything is available from the start makes you wonder what is going on, is this an item, a skill or a passive upgrade?
- I would prefer game to pause when I am checking out what to buy. I had my ui closed couple of times due to the end of day event with options to pick from
- It is possible to play on different biomes but I couldn't see any difference apart from assets :D
- Getting option to "get more gems" during the first run is confusing as I don't know what gems are for yet (I guess that should be included in my first point)
- First couple of waves feels too easy, then suddenly there's a big spike of difficulty due to enemies count. I used 3x chicken to massively boost my damage output but lack of AoE / significant shooting speed increase made me fall quickly to the sheer amount of mobs
- I tried to get to the farm but it just said it's not the time for it now. I don't know what to do in order to unlock it. I guess I should beat all 10 waves first but I don't want to guess if it's stripped from the demo or should I just play more.
- I like random story events but I feel like they are too often and change too little. 3% of crit chance more is not something I would care about tbh
Really appreciate you taking the time to write up detailed feedback.
Am planning to give more structure to the games opening - Possibly locking down areas and upgrades overtime so that players can both unlock them, and also start out simple and expand over time.
Having the game pause if in menus before an end of wave is a good improvement.
Right now each of the different stages all have a mostly similar enemy set, that is one thing will be greatly expanded on in the next few updates including new bosses for each stage and a few other tweaks to make them all unique.
Great point on lack of AoE or attack speed, will be fine tuning the balancing with each update and work on getting this just right. Some future upgrades will help like having arrows that split out and cover more area, and more AoE like the Bomb Arrows and new ones that have lightning and spread effects.
The Farming system isn't in the demo yet - but is coming, along with the Card collection (and abilities), Mining resources, Crafting, and a lot more. Will updating every week or so.
This feedback helps a ton, and added a lot to the development list - Thanks again!!
The game is great and the mechanics are really polished! Perhaps some explanation would be helpful, since the game starts and you're just there, making choices on a map. Even so, as I said, the game is very complete! The mushrooms are a nice touch!
Thanks much, really appreciate trying it out. Completely agree, the first patch to this demo will include an early story cutscene that helps set the games conflict, and will also lead players into the opening run in the first stage (Estarian Woods) - Have a ton of improvements planned and coming!
